Description

Provide support for a secure 24x7 environment for the Local Area Network Infrastructure area. Implement efficient and fault tolerant systems/process to maintain stated service levels.  Help plan and implement the latest levels of hardware and/or software.   Provide technical leadership, analysis, expertise, guidance, and act as consultant to server, network and systems groups.  A Systems Engineer is responsible for supporting Systems environment, Storage Network, Virtual Infrastructure, Windows and other Network Operating Systems, from evaluation, design through implementation and support. Performs a wide variety of installation, configuration and upgrading of servers and related hardware and software, provides investigation, diagnostic testing and repair/resolution of system, hardware, software and infrastructure.  Responsible for estimating time to complete project task(s) in support of IT and User projects.  Support implementation of new technologies and tools that improve system performance, uptime, and availability as directed by management.  Support a team atmosphere and work cooperatively within and outside of the group.

 

Essential Duties:

 

Responsible for performing all functions required to support day-to-day Infrastructure/Systems operations:

  • Provide support for a secure 24x7 environment for the Local Area Network and Server Infrastructure.
  • Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Applications and database, and file/print services.
  • Attend to PR and handle service request for LAN Administration Tasks.
  • Complete configuration, installation and support of equipment in a Microsoft Windows environment to the specifications of client proposals.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve computer and telephony related issues when contacted by clients by providing both on-site and remote support.
  • Maintaining software applications, operating systems and regular maintenance.
  • Provide technical assistance and support for the IT Systems and Services groups.
  • Promote and work in a team environment.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by Infrastructure Manager                                                                                                  

Provide stable production systems environments and ensure that systems are available each day as per published availability commitments. Prepare systems availability reports and document reasons for exceptions and corrective action to rectify problems.

  • Provide the administration of systems and servers to ensure availability of services to authorized users.
  • Prepare performance and capacity trend charts to allow for proper upgrade planning with adequate time allowance to ensure enough systems resources are available when needed.
  • Support disaster recovery effort that adequately meets the business needs and avoid extended system outages should an event occurs.
  • Provide essential and adequate controls to safeguard the integrity of data being processed through MNAO computers. Protect data and network from unauthorized access, alteration, and its misuse.

Effectively communicate, verbally and in writing, with IT applications, management, and users on projects and raise any issues and delays to IT management.

  • Determine and analyze requirements, implement hardware and/or software, and test thoroughly prior to migration to production environment.
  • Manage assigned projects and program components to deliver services in accordance with established objectives.
  • Ability to identify and manage risk.
  • Provide technical leadership, analysis, expertise, guidance, and act as consultant to server, network and systems groups.
  • Respond to inquiries from staff, administrators, service providers, and site personnel and outside vendors and etc.
  • Support implementation of new technologies and tools that provide efficient and cost effective infrastructure environment in support of Mazda’s business objectives. 
  • Keep abreast of new technologies.         

 

 

Education (Minimum):

 

Bachelor's degree (or equivalent)    

 

Experience: 

 

5 or more years of related experience 

 

Experience working with Windows, Active Directory and VMware Virtual Infrastructure in Enterprise environment. 

 

Training/Certification:

 

MCSE, MCP, VCP certification is desirable.

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong analytical abilities and professional office experience needed. 
  • Technical, analytical and interpersonal skills required.
  • Server/Infrastructure, Hardware and Software implementation, Local Area Network, Security Implementation and management.
  • Knowledge of VMware vSphere, Windows Servers, workstations, MS Exchange, and other various software applications
  • Working experience with VMware ESX, Virtual Center. 
  • Knowledge of data storage protocols including CIFS, FC, FCoE, iSCSI, and NFS.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Microsoft Visio, Project
  • PowerShell Scripting
  • Excellent working knowledge of up-to-date desktop applications
  • Strong collaboration skills and desire to work within a team
  • Ability to work independently. Attention to detail.
  • Working with unusually complicated problems and providing solutions that are highly creative and resourcefulness.
