Description

SCCU, Florida’s 3rd largest credit union, has a Vice President of Lending opportunity perfect for an executive capable of partnering with our qualified Sales and Processing teams to offer world class lending services.  We have recently restructured this position by segmenting out the sales and processing units so that the focus of this position is Credit Management (underwriting and collections).  This individual will oversee the consumer (heavy auto loan concentration with a balance of in-house and point of purchase lending as well as credit card and other unsecured lending), residential mortgage and commercial lending programs including the approval of credit and management of credit risk, the development of lending and collections management, policies and procedures, compliance and will act as the Credit Manager for the Credit Union.   

 

Broad Overview of Responsibilities

 

  • The Vice President, Lending reports to the EVP/ CFO of the credit union and will function as a key member of the Executive Management Team and provide strategic direction for all facets of the commercial, mortgage and consumer loan activities and will participate in the Loan Review Committee and the Business Loan Committee meetings. 

 

  • Prepares and oversees annual budget and monitors financial performance.

 

  • Manages implementation of loan policies, regulations and underwriting standards, procedures and guidelines in partnership with the sales and operations departments. 

 

  • Responsible for preparing comprehensive reports and analyses of loan portfolios, including profitability, delinquencies, charge offs and forecasts for reserves.

 

  • Ensures compliance with all governing regulations.

 

  • Optimizes the use of all software applications.

 

  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of general and local economic conditions or changing trends that may affect the credit union’s lending actions.  Provides timely feedback to the EVP/CFO and loan review committee of the board that allows the credit union to react appropriately.

 

  • Monitors competitors and trends in the market place as a basis for making recommendations regarding pricing, dealer reserve structure, lending product focus, underwriting criteria, and markets for development.

 

  • Monitors performance standards to ensure effective, efficient compliant operations.

Supervisory Responsibilities

 

Direct reports include the Director of Collections, Manager of Underwriting and the Secondary Marketing Specialist.

 

The Vice President is responsible for the development, coaching and monitoring of performance of all direct reports.
 

 Requirements 

Professional Experience

This person will join the organization with seven to ten years of experience within a retail financial organization (bank or credit union), five to seven years supervisory experience and a proven record of accomplishment leading and managing high performing lending teams.

Education

A four- year degree from an accredited college or university.

Practical Knowledge

  • Knowledge of lending, underwriting and collections systems and other related technologies.
  • Knowledge of mortgage investor products, guidelines and requirements.
  • Knowledge and understanding of governmental regulations and process with regards to lending, including FDCA, TILA, Credit Card Accountability, Responsibility and Disclosure Act, Home Ownership and Equity Protection Act, HMDA, RESPA, inclusive of FRB regs B, C, O, P, V and Z
  • Knowledge of and experience with FNMA, FHLMC and FHLB origination and servicing guidelines.
  • Knowledge of and experience with financial services software applications and systems
  • Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations related to consumer, mortgage and business lending and credit unions.
