Education Required: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related technical discipline, or five (5) years of experience in managing an Information Assurance (IA) program within the AF.
Possess or have the ability to obtain DoD 8570 certification requirements (e.g., Security +) within three (3) months of position start. Within last eight (8) years, five (5) years of demonstrated experience as an IAO.
Knowledge of and skill in applying software design principles and concepts, network architecture principles and concepts, network protocols, network management tools, configuration management concepts, network topology concepts, and network optimization techniques. Knowledge of applicable security standards of system hardware, software and design along with the ability to apply, modify and test security models to ensure operability of and compliance with those security standards. Strong organizational skills, analytical skills, customer service, problem solving ability, attention to detail, and verbal/written communication. CISSP Certification desired.
Serve as Information Assurance Officer (IAO) responsible for the application of new and merging information security concepts, principles, trends, technologies, and practices. Develop and disseminate IT system security policies and practices. Participate in the establishment of appropriate infrastructure controls and management, as well as effective security methodologies and documentation processes. Provide expert technical advice and guidance to managers and IT specialists on risk management and assessment activities to improve cyber security critical to infrastructure and computer systems. Develop and implement risk management strategies and methodologies to enhance information security and information assurance programs. Develop policies and procedures to ensure information systems reliability and accessibility as required to defend against unauthorized access to systems, networks, and data. Manage security testing for all systems and software to ensure vulnerabilities are identified and remediated prior to a system achieving production status based on compliance with Air Force policies and mandates.
Security Clearance: Active US Top Secret or higher.
