The transplant coordinator is involved in general program and patient activities. This nurse establishes and promotes a liaison relationship between the transplant team members and the patient's families. She/he provides program information, patient follow-up plans, and is available for educational programming with the referring facilities and physicians. As a liaison to governmental and other regulatory agencies (Medicare, Medicaid, UNOS, ESRD, etc.), the transplant surgery, and follow-up status. The transplant coordinator also may serve in an on-call capacity for the transplant program.
To qualify for this role, you must have a Baccalaureate Degree in nursing (or a Doctorate), as well as RN licensure in the State of Colorado. You must also have 2 years of progressive experience in a clinical specialty (5 years preferred), be competent in Basic Life Support and are an American Heart Association Provider. Critical care experience is preferred. You will need to be a clear and inspirational communicator, have respect for discretion and exceptionally adept at managing multidisciplinary personnel. Most of all, you should possess an innate ability to connect with, and gain the trust of your patients.
