The Design team – designing for a good purpose.
The Canonical Design team leads the design and brand of Ubuntu, the most popular open-source operating system. It is used by over 20 million people in over 240 countries in more than 80 languages. Examples are 2000 schools in Andalusia, the French police force, and rural communities in India. Our goal is to make Ubuntu for desktop, devices, apps, and other media appealing, usable and accessible for everyone to help technology being available for everybody.
We engage people through compelling, evidence-based designs, prototypes and visually articulated ideas, and help the open-source community build world-class designed open-source applications. We are a multi disciplinary team, which consists of user experience designers, visual designers, user researchers and prototypers.
The User Experience Designer helps to give life to the Ubuntu vision through creative thinking, interactive design and prototyping. The designer has hybrid talents, and feels comfortable working in a creative, fast-paced, and collaborative work environment. This particular role is in the Application Design team. This team is responsible for the design of the Ubuntu Apps, such as Telephony and Browser and is also actively engaged with the developer community in providing design patterns and components.
