Ubuntu is the world's most popular open source desktop OS with a global user base exceeding 20 million. Our goal within the Professional Engineering Services division at Canonical is to continue expanding the Ubuntu user base via Canonical's OEM & ODM partnerships. We work with the world's largest OEMs to bring factory-installed Ubuntu PCs to market.
We are looking for an outstanding Sales Engineer in Beijing to help us accelerate our growth in this business. There are several aspects to this role:
The first aspect is to provide “pre-sale” engineering support to the Canonical OEM Sales team as they identify and pursue opportunities to expand Canonical's network of OEM & ODM partners. You will participate in partner meetings in conjunction with the Canonical OEM Sales team, and you will prepare and deliver Ubuntu product demonstrations for prospective partners on sample hardware. In these conversations, you will be the expert on Canonical's products and technologies.
The second aspect is to work closely with Canonical's OEM & ODM partners in mainland China in the “post-sale” phase of the relationship. You will be assigned a primary OEM partner and will work on-site on a frequent basis. You will serve as a “technology evangelist” for Ubuntu and related technologies, with an eye toward expanding Ubuntu coverage of OEM product portfolios.
This role is suitable for someone who enjoys customer contact, presenting technical content to audiences both technical and non-technical, and solving customer problems. You'll need to be comfortable in a fast-paced environment and enjoy a challenge.
