STEM Non-Profit Rotational Residency, Overdeck Family Foundation and Siegel Family Endowment

Location: New York
Job Code: KC-3110

Description

STEM Non-Profit Rotational Residency Program

The Overdeck Family Foundation and Siegel Family Endowment (“the Foundations”) are seeking talented candidates with a passion to be leaders in the STEM non-profit sector.

The Foundations provide transformative grants and other investments, principally in the areas of primary and secondary STEM and computational education in the United States. We seek to hire emerging leaders in this field to participate in a two year Residency Program. Residents will contribute to our Foundations’ STEM work, and concurrently develop experience through working hands-on with organizations in dynamic environments, thereby promoting learning to become future STEM non-profit leaders.

Residents will collaborate with the Foundations’ local non-profit partner organizations in a series of four rotational placements, each of which will last for six months.  These placements will expose Residents to a broad base of knowledge and non-profit leadership skills that will maximize their future impact in STEM education.  Over the course of the two years, Residents will:

  • Develop core skills necessary to be a leader at a non-profit, including financial management, operations, program and curricular design, marketing and communications, and growth strategy;
  • Serve as a collaborative team member and thought partner at placement organizations;
  • Lead discrete projects designated as having the potential for high-impact by partners;
  • Initiate and maintain relationships with a broad network of diverse stakeholders in STEM education, thereby expanding the Foundations’ pipeline of promising non-profits;
  • Receive feedback, professional development, and mentorship from Foundation staff through regularly scheduled check-ins and presentations.

Requirements Include:

  • Degree from a top university with an excellent academic record; STEM major or relevant coursework is essential.
  • Minimum of two years relevant work experience.
  • Demonstrated passion and enthusiasm for STEM education, a desire to be a leader in the field.
  • Adaptable and flexible to various work environments.
  • Record of leadership, initiative, attention to detail, and high achievement.
  • Demonstrated self-starter who can work independently, structuring own goals and timelines.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and relationship-building skills, serving as a steward of the Foundations’ missions.

This Residency will be a salaried position with benefits; participating Residents will report to Foundation staff, based at Two Sigma’s offices in SoHo.  Placements will likely be in the New York Metropolitan Area, including Connecticut and New Jersey.
