Position Title: Charter School Supervisor
Position Summary: The Supervisor is responsible for the preparation and service of meals for students and facility staff. The Cook Supervisor is charged with supervising the nutrition services operation.
Qualifications: Must have at least two years of quantity cooking experience, a basic knowledge of modified diets, some prior food service supervisory experience and be ServSafe certified. Knowledge of the National School Lunch program preferred.
1.Opens kitchen and insures that all equipment is working.
2.Prepares foods according to the menu cycle, standardized recipes and directions provided by the District Manager and Consulting Dietitian.
3.Documents refrigeration and food temperatures and completes necessary paperwork documentation.
4.Maintains kitchen equipment in a clean and sanitary manner.
5.Reports any equipment needs or issues to District Manager.
6.Presents food in an appealing manner according to the Food Presentation Policy.
7.Directs kitchen staff to insure that all quality, quantity and timing objectives are met.
8.Follows posted Sanitation Schedule and ensures a clean and organized work area at all times.
9.Maintain confidentiality of students and staff.
10.Other responsibilities as requested by the District Manager.
1.Knowledge of basic therapeutic diets. National School Lunch program guidelines preferred.
2.Knowledge of basic food service sanitation and proper food handling.
3.Ability to use industrial equipment and knowledge of basic equipment maintenance.
4.Ability to “batch” cook for large quantity production.
5.Effective oral communications with management, employees, students and staff.
6.Ability to read menus and recipes.
7.Ability to use proper judgment and to maintain confidential information.
8.Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
9.Ability to accept direction and adhere to operating and safety policies and procedures.
10.Ability to stand up to 8 hours at a time.
11.Ability to lift and push/pull up to 50 pounds.
12.Understanding of MSDS and ability to properly use and maintain chemicals.
13.Ability to work within deadlines.
14.Ability to lead and supervise the nutrition services staff as necessary.
