Description

The Canada R&D Centre Toronto site, based in GTA, is leading research and development of hardware acceleration technology on hardware platform based on ICT convergence technology.

Position Overview
In this role, you will be responsible for managing all IT Service functions for a small and rapidly growing Research & Development Lab.

 

Requirements

  • ­Hardware set up and maintenance skills
  • Small Data Center planning (Power, cooling, security, etc)
  • Network installation of OS (PXE)
  • Solid skills in Linux system administration (basic installation, package management and OS upgrade, file sharing, security configurations, kernel modifications).
  • Practical experience of TCP/IP network administration (base configuration, routing, VLANs, firewalls, HTTP proxies)
  • Working knowledge of resource container technologies such as Docker
  • Practical experience with virtualization technologies (mainly KVM)
  • Proficiency in at least one scripting language (shell, Perl, Python)
  • Familiarity with configuring source control repositories (git, svn, etc.)
  • Proficient with Storage (deployment, administration, management)
  • Self-starter.  Proactively providing solutions to patterned issues
  • Technical Solution Design assistance for R&D where requeste.

 

Preferred:

  • Some knowledge of the Windows Server
  • Knowledge of setup and configuration of the Java stack
  • Cluster/cloud management (familiar with tools like xCAT, kickstart, openStack, etc)
  • Experience with system and network performance monitoring & management
  • Familiarity with Hadoop and Big Data technologies
  • Knowledge of Public Key Infrastructure (PKI)
  • Flex license server management (for Xilinx, VCS, ModelSim, Altera, CAD tools in general)

 

Skills and Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in IT Services
  • Education:  Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience in relevant field
  • Change Management
  • Proven Problem Diagnosis and Problem Resolution
  • Strong customer service and process orientation
  • Collaborate with IT Security for configuration
  • Strong Service Management and Service Delivery skills
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-demand environment
  • Contributes to escalated problem resolution by giving in-person, hands-on support
  • Knowledge of Mandarin is an asset (oral / written)
  • Occasional Travel
