NRS & Clinical Workload Coordinator

Description

The NRS & Clinical Workload Coordinator is a clinical resource for the National Rehabilitation Reporting System and the Clinical Workload System, working collaboratively with Clinical Data Coordinator, the Clinical Workload Data Coordinator and the services to ensure data quality and timely submissions.  The role supports analysis of outcomes and case mix considering implications on patient care and hospital funding.  

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Health Discipline (Bsc. N preferred)
  • Certified in National Rehabilitation Reporting System
  • Knowledge of GRASP preferred
  • 1-2 years related experience
  • Project management experience
  • Self-motivated, ability to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Analysis and report writing experience with great attention to detail
  • Advanced computer proficiency (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Exceptional communication (written and verbal), interpersonal skills (ability to develop a rapport with staff) and organizational skills (Ability to prioritize work)
  • Knowledge of adult education principles and demonstrated teaching/facilitation skills
  • Registered Nursing background preferred
  • Evidence of good performance history and attendance record

  • Should be aware of conditions and measures that may affect the safety of patients, residents, students, employees, volunteers, physicians and visitors

 

Accountabilities:

  • Develop and provide ongoing training and support ensuring that resource materials are available and up-to-date for:
    • All NRS assessors, ensuring assessors are certified/re-certified as required
    • All nursing staff ensuring they are appropriately trained on GRASP workload entry
  • Work with teams on the units to improve processes to ensure timely, accurate and efficient completion of NRS assessments and workload entry
    • Coordinate completion of assessments
    • Complete NRS Assessments as necessary
    • Assist team with NRS coding challenges, liaising with CIHI as necessary for clarification or resolution
    • Remain abreast of and communicate changes to reporting requirements, modify processes and implement as necessary
  • Ensure NRS data quality by monitoring NRS activities on the units and conducting data quality audits to review accuracy and consistency of coding in collaboration with the Clinical Data Coordinator.  Ensure workload data quality by coordinating the inter-rater reliability program, running reports, auditing and verifying data
  • Identify needs and request appropriate modifications or custom reports from application vendors to enhance both the NRS application and workload software for frontline users and for reporting
    • Participate in testing of software enhancements
    • Liaise with vendors as necessary when support is required
  • Provide education and support in the use of the clinical data
    • Meet regularly with clinical teams to review assessments prior to submission
    • Review quarterly reports including outcomes, case mix and comparisons to peers to identify opportunities for improvement and implications on patient care and/funding
  • Validate all GRASP instruments annually by conducting GRASP pilots
    • Meet with staff and service managers, review the current workload instrument, make modifications, testing new instrument, analysing pilot data and implementation a final workload instrument
  • Develop expertise in CIHI on-line reporting to provide corporate and service level reports as necessary
  • Represent the Centre at external committees in relation to workload and NRS
  • Provide coverage for Clinical Data Coordinator and Clinical Workload Data Coordinator as necessary
