Description

Qualifications:

• Current Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario
• Diploma in Nursing
• BScN preferred
• Current certificate in cardiopulmonary resuscitation BCLS
• Physical assessment course completed within the last 5 years or be committed to enrolling in a physical assessment course at a recognized community college 6 months form date of hire or assessed as required.
• Capable of independent decision-making with regard to implementing nursing specific treatments
• Excellent assessment and clinical skills
• Experience with CAVC an asset
• Demonstrated experience working in respiratory nursing including tracheostomy care and oxygen therapy (and ventilator troubleshooting)
• Strong critical thinking skills
• Good knowledge of computer technology
• Demonstrated skill in providing patient focused care
• Demonstrated leadership skills including creative problem solving, sound judgement and organizational abilities
• Demonstrated skill in providing patient/resident focused care
• Demonstrated skill in reflective practice
• Effective communication skills including conflict resolution
• Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability
• Required to rotate between CAVC and Day Hospital
• May be required to work 8 hour shifts on Respiratory Continuing Care
• Effective team player within the transdisciplinary team and demonstrated ability to work with others including patients and their families
• Demonstrated reliable work habits
• Evidence of good performance history and attendance record
• Ability to work in a manner that exemplifies the core values of West Park:  Excellence, Respect, Trust, Collaboration and Accountability
• Should be aware of conditions and measures that may affect the safety of patients, residents, students, employees, volunteers, physicians and visitors
