Rescan has a career opportunity in Vancouver, British Columbia for a Senior Terrestrial Ecologist. We are looking for a Senior Terrestrial Ecologist to lead environmental impact assessment investigations for projects throughout Canada. Extensive experience in the mining and energy sectors throughout Canada is an asset. The position includes technical leadership, a lead role in liaison with regulatory agencies and clients, and mentorship of other professionals.
Qualifications:

A minimum of 12 years of experience researching, classifying and assessing terrestrial ecosystems;

A Bachelor’s degree in an ecology related field (e.g. Ecology, Forestry, Biology and/or Environmental Science);

Project management experience;

Demonstrated understanding of ecosystem components and their interrelationships;

Excellent written and communication skills

Knowledge of environmental impact assessments and an understanding of how effects of project-related developments on ecological values should be investigated and reported.

The ability to lead or manage multiple projects at a time.

Strong leadership skills.

Strong work ethic with the desire to achieve the best possible products within the time and budgets allotted.

Eligibility to register as P.Ag., R.P.Bio., or R.P.F. or other professional designation.
Responsibilities:

Lead ecology components of environmental assessments, and consult on technical and regulatory issues on large-scale and complex ecology programs;

Prepare reports, including Environmental Impact Assessments, in an efficient and effective manner;

Prepare management plans for the ecological components of large mining and energy projects;

Prepare proposals, project reports, and take on project management; and
-
Provide training and mentorship to intermediate staff
