Field Service Engineer (Site Automation)

Location: Fargo, ND


Novaspect, Inc, an Emerson Local Business Partner, the global leader of process systems and solutions, is currently offering an opportunity for an experienced Control System Engineer in our fast paced, customer orientated Field Services team and to be based out of Fargo, ND. The successful candidate would assist our Control System engineering customers and project teams in the development, delivery, on-going maintenance and optimization of our state of the art process control solutions for our industrial customers. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include participating with our customers in:

  • Distributed Control System commissioning and startup
  • Distributed Control System troubleshooting and problem resolution
  • On-site control system modifications and tuning
  • Participation with multiple active control system customers
  • Coordination of Emerson field services engineering team
  • Maintenance training
  • Assist in the quotation and technical sales support of control system field service solutions
  • Troubleshoot field instrumentation and valve related situations
  • Troubleshoot and install Microsoft operating systems
  • Troubleshoot computer related problems
  • Troubleshoot and install networks
  • Setup interfaces to PLCs, Drives and Bus-Based Networks
  • Setup Active Directories, Terminal Services and User Accounts

Education and/or Experience:                                            

  • B.S. Degree in Chemical, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Experience in the control system engineering field, preferably 5+ years

Additional Requirements:

  • Meet project team commitments and deadlines
  • Work independently and as part of customer project team
  • Provide excellent oral and written communications
  • Travel to customer facilities
  • Participate in on-going learning (latest technologies)

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift 50lbs on a regular basis
  • Ability to carry cumbersome objects
  • Ability to stoop, crawl and crouch while working on equipment on hands and knees
  • Ability to work in confined spaces
  • Ability to work extended hours on a computer
  • Ability to work in a loud industrial environment
  • To work with hand tools
  • To work at elevations with proper PPE
  • To work inside and outside in sub-zero and extremely hot environments
