Amplify is comprised of three divisions. The Amplify Insight and Amplify Learning divisions grew out of the work of Wireless Generation and, as a complement, the Amplify Access division was created shortly thereafter.


Description

We are looking for a Solutions Architect to design innovative solutions, engage clients in both the pre-sales and post-sales stage, and lead the technology delivery in our consulting engagements. Successful candidates will understand the technology landscape in the education industry and leading-edge information technology, know how to integrate our platforms with off-the-shelf software, component stacks and agile/lean development to serve client needs, and excel in high-pressure, high-visibility environment.

Typical projects may include scoping, designing, selling, and delivering medium to large scale K-12 Ed-tech solutions, including data systems, rich web 2.0 applications,  instruction improvement systems, and assessment systems,  integrating them within the education eco-system and enterprise environments, and prototyping and delivering proofs-of-concepts for feasibility analysis and product innovation.

Responsibilities of the Solutions Architect:

  • Align customers’ vision and business objectives to solution requirements to shape and scope software development or IT integration projects
  • Present architecture alternatives, find the right technology and process fit, and identify the optimal architectural choices with the right price/scope/schedule, right risk factors and sustainable customer relationship
  • Write winning proposals to both competitive RFPs and sole-source projects; lead the technology solution sections and contribute to other sections
  • Estimate development costs and timelines; conduct technology due diligence; manage technical risks
  • Lead and mentor teams of developers, tech leads; establish best practices; practice continuous improvement; foster a learning organization
  • Lead the technical solution delivery aspect of the engaged projects, understand all relevant low-level technical details, and participate in the implementation of critical components

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS Degree in Computer Science or equivalent
  • 5+ years of recent, hands-on experience developing applications or data systems
  • 2+ years of experience successfully scoping, estimating, and delivering customer-facing applications or IT integration projects
  • Proven foundation in development fundamentals, enterprise integration, analytical abilities, and familiarity with common enterprise architectures and software packages; especially in the education and social media space
  • Expertise in several programming languages such as Java, Python, Scala, C#, C++, Ruby as well as OO design
  • Strong command of at least one major commercial or open-source RDBMS, OODBMS or big-data management.  Experience with a commercial or open-source BI, DW, ETL and/or MDM stack such as Jasper, Talend, R, or SSRS/SSIS preferred
  • Experience with a commercial or open-source CMS/LCMS/VLE/LMS related stack such as Drupal, Alfresco, Solr/Lucene, Moodle, LTI, Common Cartridge, SCORM, etc.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • M.S.Ed. or MBA highly desired
  • Communicates well in both cross-functional and dynamic business environments, and is willing and able to take on multiple roles in high-pressure, high-visibility situations
