Description

Project Assistants supporting litigation paralegals and attorneys in the Ridgeland office of Butler Snow, a multi-office, regional law firm. 

WILL TRAIN SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT AS NEEDED IN THE FOLLOWING ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Summarize depositions and discovery responses
• Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, notices and subpoenas
• Conduct various document searches and factual research
• Set up, index and maintain files that are organized chronologically, numerically and/or by subject matter
• Compile medical records
• Prepare witness and matter materials for case preparation using relevant documents for attorney review
• Assist with preparations for hearings, mediations and trials
• Organize exhibits, files and all other supporting documents to prepare for trial
• Work in Summation and/or Concordance databases to include setup and search and retrieval

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Superior technology skills – proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel and Outlook)
• Ability to prioritize, organize and manage work load and to take the initiative in handling projects and anticipating what needs to be done
• Work collaboratively and cooperatively with others
• Requires a high degree of professionalism and the ability to exercise good judgment

MINIMUM AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• 4  year degree and/or paralegal certificate from an accredited paralegal program preferred
• 2-3 years experience working as a paralegal preferred
