Tracerco specializes in process diagnostics for the refining, chemical and pharmaceutical industries. This is accomplished through radiological investigations and knowledge of various process equipment; Distillation Towers, Heat Exchangers, Process Reactors, Stills, Valves and Piping.



Reporting to the Regional Manager or Area Supervisor the Engineer in Training (EIT) will be familiar with a wide range of industrial process systems and be able to fully apply our range of sealed source technologies including report preparation. They will also have the ability to lead simple tracer applications such as flow rate measurements and Mean Residence Time Studies. On more complex projects the job holder will work under the supervision of a project leader acting as part of the overall field team. 




The job role will include preparation for, traveling to and application of on-line investigations at a customer site. The degree of responsibility will vary depending upon the complexity of the project. In the case of routine sealed source projects and simple tracer applications the job holder will be expected to lead a team during project execution. In the case of more complex sealed source and tracer studies the job holder will act as a support to a more senior field person. Depending upon the nature of the work the job holder may either give or receive instructions and will perform those tasks safely and to the best of their ability.  The job holder will be expected to carry out or assist senior engineers during analysis of data and generation of reports for the customer depending upon project complexity. Alongside offering on site support to senior field staff the job holder will also be able to calculate source sizes necessary for sealed source projects, lead all standard gamma ray transmission projects, be able to use and lead neutron backscatter to measure levels, interface and moisture under insulation and be able to lead the set-up and application of basic tracer projects. When not at a customer site, the job holder is expected to support the organization by writing reports in a timely manner, maintain equipment, vehicles, house-keeping, and to properly maintain supply of shop items. 



The job holder will fully understand safety aspects of working within an industrial chemical environment as well as the handling of sealed and unsealed radioactive materials. They will be familiar with the fundamentals of mass transfer and basic features found within an industrial process plant such as heat exchangers, piping systems, separation vessels and storage tanks.


The job holder will be fully trained in the use of our range of equipment and will be able to make ready all relevant tools for use at the job site. 


The job holder must have a good understanding of the equipment to allow them to troubleshoot and carry out minor repairs when required.  The job holder will build up knowledge of, and contacts with those who can provide us with equipment, repairs and other services necessary for routine operations and any special situations that may arise.
