TITLE: Senior Technical Advisor for Maternal and Reproductive Health Services

The Senior Technical Advisor (STA) for Maternal and Reproductive Health provides strategic technical leadership and expertise in family planning, reproductive health and maternal health, including the integration of family planning with other health services supported by EngenderHealth (EH) programs. EngenderHealth’s clinical facility-based focus extends to fostering functional linkages with communities through its network of country staff in collaboration with national and international partners. The Advisor will apply the EH Integration Approach in providing technical guidance to country programs and global activities designed to address integrated service delivery issues and pilot innovations with a focus on ensuring access to and strengthening functional FP counseling and services for clients using other sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services. These would include women coming for maternity care (antenatal, intrapartum, and postpartum), women who have experienced obstetric emergencies and their sequelae (e.g. obstetric fistula), postabortion care (PAC) clients, and clients seeking HIV or STI related services. The Advisor will also work with country managers, global project directors, and across programs led by EH Technical Advisors covering content areas articulated in the 2010-2015 Strategic Plan; and identify, document, disseminate, adapt, and replicate best practices for taking them to scale. The Advisor will work closely with the Clinical Support Team Leader to ensure the use of the latest clinical standards and guidelines, to conduct regular technical updates for EH staff and project partners; and will work with the Monitoring, Evaluation, & Research (M, E, &R) Director to ensure design of appropriate M, E, &R activities including the use of data related to service integration, maternal health, Fistula Care, family planning, and clinical SRH practices.
• Provide leadership and technical direction to develop program strategies and plan interventions to effectively address the (a) integration of family planning with other SRH services; (b) family planning; (c) selected maternal health initiatives, e.g., Fistula Care; and (d) clinical aspects of service delivery.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & CERTIFICATIONS:
• Graduate degree in public health or a related field; Midwifery or Advanced Clinical Practice Nursing credentialing, preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Technical expertise in clinic-based maternity care, including PMTCT; informed choice and client-provider interaction, with experience in counseling of clients using PAC and postpartum services
