Annual Reviews is currently looking for a full-time Associate Database Programmer/Analyst with excellent verbal and written communication skills to join our IT team in our Palo Alto Office.

The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, willing to learn new skills and have excellent interpersonal skills to work with different departments and groups. You will provide technical software and hardware support for a medium-sized office and have opportunities for database administration, development, reporting and business analytics. This position is important in helping the organization move it data systems and reporting needs forward.


Some of the primary responsibilities of this role include implementing, maintaining and supporting new SQL-based implementations and customizations.  You will assist with maintaining, and supporting cloud and on-premise SQL Server based solutions for the organization including the SQL Server Business Intelligence (BI) stack: SSAS, SSIS, and SSRS; .Net development in VB and C#; data normalization tasks in various delimited or non-delimited formats and xml; report writing in SQL Reporting Services, and Crystal Reports.



  • Provide internal support for the company’s MS SQL Server based systems
  • Develop and maintain business analysis reports on SQL based platforms leveraging SQL Reporting Services (SSRS) and/or Crystal Reports
  • Assist with Business Intelligence (BI) related initiatives as assigned
  • SQL Development - write and troubleshoot TSQL code and design (queries, stored procedures, user defined functions, tables, views, triggers, indexes, constraints) in a Microsoft environment
  • Perform data normalization tasks in both delimited, non-delimited, and xml file formats
  • Integrate various business applications
  • Write reports, documentation, operating manuals and maintain IT policies and procedures
  • Provide user training, support and feedback
  • Assist with defining objectives through consultation with staff and ensuring that database design meets user requirements
  • Perform other tasks and projects as assigned


Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Very good analytical and creative problem solving skills
  • Good work ethic, team player, positive and self-motivated
  • Ability to prioritize tasks effectively and work independently
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • 2+ years of successful experience with Microsoft SQL Server
  • Administering databases, creating stored procedures, functions, & triggers
  • ability to write and troubleshoot TSQL code and design (queries, stored procedures, user defined functions, tables, views, triggers, indexes, constraints) in a Microsoft environment
  • 2+ years’ experience programming in C# or VB.Net
  • 2+ years’ experience writing in Crystal Reports and SQL Reporting Services (SSRS) – experience in designing reports
  • Experience in code migration and database change management
  • Experience with ERP and CRM systems a plus
