Assistant Professor – Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program (FT)


Effective September 1, 2013:  (FT) Assistant Professor – Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program in the College of Social & Behavioral Sciences, Academic Affairs – Wilmington University, Dover and Wilson Graduate Center.

Requirements: The incumbent must have an earned doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision or a closely related field (i.e. Counseling, Counseling Psychology) from an accredited institution, preferably a CACREP program. The incumbent must have a minimum of one year of experience teaching and supervising students as a full-time faculty member in a graduate counseling program prior to July 2013, if the doctorate is not in Counselor Education and Supervision. The incumbent must have at least two years of mental health counseling experience. The incumbent must have certification and/or licensure as a mental health professional (e.g. NCC, LPCMH). Must have verifiable expertise in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of mental disorders. Must be computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office products with a working knowledge of Blackboard and CAMS. The incumbent must have HOT (Hybrid Online Training) or have it successfully completed within the first 90 days of employment.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):  Teach graduate level clinical mental health counseling courses at both the Dover, Delaware site and the Wilson Graduate Center. Assist in the development and maintenance of relationships with clinical sites, site supervisors, community agencies and oversight of clinical training activities. Advise, mentor, and supervise graduate clinical mental health counseling students. Participate in student recruitment, admission, and retention activities. Develop and deliver technology enhanced curriculum. Assist in the development and maintenance of program continuing education and certificate programs. Serve on program, college, and university committees. Maintain a high level of competence in the field of clinical mental health counseling. Participate in University faculty development activities. Perform other duties which may be assigned by the Director and/or the Dean.

Hours of Employment:  Generally 8:30 am – 4:30 pm, Monday – Friday. However, the incumbent must be flexible enough with the hours and availability to meet the needs of the college, the department
and/or the University. Travel will be required.

Salary Range: Commensurate with experience.
