We currently have a career opportunity for a Field Service Representative in Edmonton, Alberta and Quebec, Canada.
This position serves as a company technical and administrative representative, and deals with customer service assignments on Solar gas turbine driven compressor, generator, and mechanical drive packages. These field (customer sites) assignments include installation and commissioning of new and refurbished turbomachinery packages, major component removal and installation, package system upgrades, control systems diagnostics, mechanical systems diagnostics, and preventive maintenance. Work is normally performed according to specific, detailed instructions with latitude to act independently increasing with the individual’s professional development. Ensure major interventions are planned and executed on schedule and within budget.
Must ensure that all activities are carried out within company policy, manufacturers’ recommendations, and in a safe manner.
Must have basic knowledge of standard repair and maintenance methods and experience with various equipment associated with Oil & Gas, Pipeline, and Industrial Power Generation equipment.
Must be able to recognize abnormal sounds, vibrations, and potential safety problems at inception and take appropriate action to mitigate safety hazards and/or equipment failures. Keep abreast of pending work and personnel required completing the projects. Ensure that necessary parts are available and submit materials requisitions when required. Ensure effective communication and reporting to customer representatives, immediate supervision and other disciplines within the Solar organization.
Will utilize sound judgment when analyzing problems. Solve problems with little or no supervision in a timely manner and at a nominal cost. Will be aware of procedures and options for identifying sources of information and technical advice. Will have sufficient product knowledge to repair and adjust minor mechanical/electrical components/systems and will be capable of reading applicable drawings and technical manuals.
This position requires heavy travel and working unpredictable schedules. Must be Bilingual (French) for Quebec Province.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience with electrical/electronics is required
• Ability to interpret Mechanical and/or Electrical drawings is required
• Experience working with gas turbine generators, compressor systems, or turbomachinery is preferred
• Familiarity with rotating equipment and PLC systems is desirable
• Basic Computer skills required
• Must live within 30 minutes’ drive time of Edmonton\Sherwood Park\ Quebec area, -OR- willing to relocate to live within 30 minutes’ drive time of Edmonton\Sherwood Park\ Quebec area.
• Must possess a valid agency-issued driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
• Must be able to hold and maintain a full offshore medical and survival certificate to suit all areas of assignment is required
• Fitness for duty (offshore and remote onshore) required
• Consent to comply with Solar’s Alcohol and Drug policy
• Consent to background check
