We are currently looking for a Director Corporate Fleet, Facilities & Assets to join our team based in Toronto, Canada. Reporting to the President of Gate Gourmet in Canada, the position is responsible for evaluating and providing support to facilities and fleet management, operations, and maintenance personnel for facility capacity changes to properly service our customers, and maintain safe and efficient work environments for our employee groups.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Partners with operational management and support functions on all decisions related to fleet and facilities

  • Monitors, analyzes and projects division fleet and facility needs and prepare strategic plans regarding capacity optimization

  • Evaluates and qualifies contractors and perform project management for facility capacity expansion, modifications as well as minor works, space planning, and relocations of facility components

  • Responsible for reviewing architectural and engineering documents for construction projects to assure they meet the needs of Operations, obtaining input from local management and value engineering scope where appropriate

  • Oversees facility strategy with regard to length of term, facility size and location

  • Works with regional and unit fleet and facilities resources to implement strategic plan to ensure optimized capacity utilization

  • Manages and controls corporate acquisitions and evaluation of fleet and facilities

  • Manages requirement changes from regulatory agencies or corporate strategies in terms of fleet and facilities

  • Performs project management, budgeting and financial reporting for larger strategic facility modifications (new facilities, major remodels, relocations)

  • Evaluates need for contracted fleet and facility services, developing scopes of work and specifications, and coordinating with Procurement in negotiating vendor service contracts

  • Evaluates and qualifies contractors/vendors for facility and fleet projects

  • Develops corporate standards for fleet and facilities and monitor projects and vendors for compliance with corporate standards and contract documents

  • Prepares budgets and formal requests for funding; working with Finance, Procurement, and facility management to evaluate fleet, facilities and equipment needs

  • Administers corporate policies and procedures governing the administration, operation, and maintenance of fleet and facilities and make process improvement recommendations as needed

  • Manages fleet and facility acquisitions/dispositions from evaluation to disposition

  • Works with regional and unit fleet and facilities resources to ensure upkeep of assets

  • Manages capital budget plan in terms of timing, spend and impact and secures achieving of related objectives

  • Works with input from divisional and regional directors in capital budget projections, and ongoing maintenance budget management

  • Secures accurate and relevant safekeeping of data and reports through selection, development and maintenance of software and other administrative systems to manage data and administrative systems related to fleet, facilities and capital budgets

  • Oversees space planning and space allocation needs of division headquarters

  • Negotiates lease and operating permits with landlords and airport authorities

  • Reviews, analyzes, and responds to legal documents (contracts, leases, permits) and laws and regulations

  • Coordinates with Legal to assure agreements and permits adequate protect company from risk and meet the company’s operational requirements

  • Controls and manages facility requirements in terms of permits and licenses and, as needed, liaises with (internal) environmental and safety experts.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field required (Engineering, Facility/Fleet Management)

Work Experience:

  • 8+ Years experience in fleet and property portfolio management

  • Proven track record of success and career progression

Job Skills:

  • Understand the design and operation of production and plant equipment to ensure proper operation, cleaning, maintenance and repair by facility personnel and outside service vendors

  • Communicate effectively (ability to clearly express ideas and opinions using appropriate and effective communication methods; to deal with employees and vendors openly and honestly, being receptive and attentive to communication and feedback from employees and clients)

  • Demonstrate teamwork (display a willingness to work with and assist other employees)

  • Demonstrate initiative (contribute new ideas, be  self-motivated, obtain and maintain a good working knowledge of the Company)

  • Demonstrate organizational skills and the effective use of time (have the ability to plan daily work, set priorities, and manage numerous projects simultaneously to ensure  work is timely and efficiently completed)

  • Detail oriented

  • Strong organizational skills, able to prioritize responsibilities and multi-task

  • Strong interpersonal skills, interact well with multiple departments and customers as required

  • Advanced negotiation skills

  • Knowledge of TQM methodology

  • Excellent reading, writing, and oral communication skills

  • Experienced in use of all Microsoft Office applications with in specific: Word, Excel and MS-Project

  • Experienced in use of construction and architectural software like CAD, etc.

Communication Skills:

  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills

Travel:

  • None

Environmental Requirements:

  • Regularly stands, walks, bends, lifts, and moves frequently during shift

  • There may be physical discomfort due to temperature in production area, coolers, and freezers

  • Ability to lift, pushes, pulls or maneuvers 15-25 lbs
