Supplier Development Engineer

OBJECTIVE

This position is dedicated to driving continuous improvement within our supplier partners by supporting New Product Development, Current Issue Resolution, and Value Analysis/Value Engineering in support of Doosan’s Strategic Sourcing initiatives.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Supplier New Product Development Process

  • Support New Product Development by collaboratively establishing world -class product and process designs with Doosan engineers and Doosan supplier engineers using APQP tools to meet quality, cost, and delivery targets.

Support Strategic Sourcing

  • Support strategic sourcing initiatives by evaluating new suppliers' production and quality systems to make sure that they will be capable of meeting Doosan quality, cost, and delivery targets.
  • Deploy the use of Six Sigma tools on supplier issues to drive effective corrective actions.
  • Understand process capabilities of supplier partners and implement corrective actions in areas requiring improvement.
  • Understand supply base capacity constraints and establish plans to address shortcomings in projected volume needs.
  • Review product or process changes initiated by the supply base to minimize risk to the quality or delivery of finished product.

Promotion of Continuous Improvement

  • Participate\train supplier partners in the use of Lean Six Sigma methodologies within the supply base to improve safety, reduce opportunities for defects, improve delivery, and reduce costs.

Build Strategic Alliances across the Organization

  • Work with all facets of the company's organization to promote quality, productivity, strategic alliances, information sharing, customer support, and continuous improvement.

KNOWLEDGE / EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or other technical discipline preferred.
  • Process/Manufacturing/Quality/Product Development experience beneficial with experience implementing cross functional processes and projects.
  • Lean or Six Sigma Certification preferred.
  • APQP experience preferred.
  • ISO audit experience preferred.
  • Strong business aptitude.
  • 5+ years of experience.
