Orbital is seeking a Structural Designer to provide technical support of heavy industrial projects at our Pittsburgh Office. The position requires direct design experience, preferably in a consulting environment, for heavy industrial engineering projects in the chemical, petrochemical, refining, manufacturing, steel, mining, materials processing and power generation industries.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Performing detailed civil/structural designs and layouts for industrial facilities, including foundation design, structural steel design and interconnection design.

Design/Drafting in AutoCAD and/or Bentley MicroStation products.

Perform designs in accordance with client standards.

Assist in the development of standards and procedures for the engineering and technical work performed within the department.
A minimum of 5 years of structural design and drafting experience in the heavy industrial environments and marketplaces served is required. The position requires the Structural Designer to work independently or assist engineers in the design and drafting for Orbital’s customers using Computer Aided Design (CAD) to develop related engineering documentation.
Education and Credentials:

High school diploma is required. A technical trade school degree is preferred.
