The Contractor position will serve as a Security Technician on one or more government contracts.  Under limited supervision the Security Technician must be able to install and troubleshoot complex technical and physical security systems at government facilities overseas and domestic.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Install cables, conduit, wire ways, equipment cabinets, panels, terminations and electronic equipment
  • Install hardware and software for access control, CCTV, intrusion detection and related systems.
  • Performs security system installations based upon the specifications, the National Electrical Code, application guidelines and government agency standards.
  • Produces a variety of written documentation including memoranda, trip reports, and project correspondence with stakeholders and project personnel.
  • Performs extensive worldwide and domestic travel, often in remote locations.


Supervisory Responsibilities

The Security Technician will act as a member of an installation team and will occasionally supervise lower level electricians and security technicians in the performance of his/her duties.


Education and/or Experience

  • Trade School or Military Equivalent.
  • Two to five years hands-on work experience in security system installation and electrical construction.
  • Experience with electronic security systems.
  • Ability to read and understand schematics, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and associated engineering and shop drawings.
  • Must be able to complete manufacturer’s certification on various equipment and systems.
  • Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code, International Building Code, and CADD Standards.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Effective oral and written communication to stakeholders, project team and program personnel.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Suite of products including, Word, Excel, Access and E-mail business software.
  • Must demonstrate a good attitude and ability to work as a member of a Team. 
  • Position requires self-motivation and the ability to work effectively under a minimum of supervision. 
  • Must be able to multi-task efficiently, work in a fast paced environment on multiple projects, and have a strong attention for detail

None required.


Security Clearance:

SECRET Level Required

  • Must have a current US Government SECRET Personnel Security Clearance or be able to successfully complete a U.S. government administered Investigation.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must also be able to maintain a US Government SECRET clearance.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to be able to occasionally stand; walk; sit; use hands and/or fingers to handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; operate office equipment, reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop; kneel; talk or hear.  The employee must occasionally lift and or move up to 50 pounds.  Medical conditions or physical impediments may disqualify candidates from overseas work where comprehensive medical care may be limited or unavailable, or where the condition or impediment would put the individual at unacceptable risk.  Duties may be performed in an active combat zone where the employee would be required to seek shelter.  There may be stress, psychological and physical hardships, and the possibility of temporarily living in field conditions associated with this position.



Overseas travel will be required up to 75% of the calendar year with the potential for high-threat areas.  Domestic travel may be required for training and coordination.  


Work Environment:  

Full-time, 40-hour work week when located in the United States. Typical work week overseas will be 60 hours. Performance of duties will be in industrial shops, warehouses, and light construction sites, as well as in a typical office setting. 


Work Location:

The Stateside work location will be in DoS annexes in Arlington or Springfield, VA.  Overseas work locations will be in diplomatic facilities worldwide to include areas where personnel may receive hazardous or hardship pay in accordance with Department of State Standardized Regulations, Chapter 650-Danger Pay Allowance and Chapter 530-Hardship Differential Applicable to Post.
