Digital Signal Processing Engineer

 Essential Job Description:

Design, develop and maintain digital signal processing algorithms for music products used by musicians worldwide.   Collaborate daily with software developers, firmware engineers, product designers, and product testers. Contribute to product definition and design.  Work with a world class team to meet deadlines.  Learn from other engineers, and enjoy a creative development environment.

  • Design and implement DSP firmware that meets our unique real-time audio processing requirements
  • Program embedded processors such as SHARC families of processors, in Assembler and C/C++
  • Write quality code
  • Debug and troubleshoot algorithms
  • Digital audio filter analysis/design using Matlab
  • Create native applications that interface with embedded systems
  • Analyze and document DSP firmware
  • Analyze and document analog music effects circuits
  • Ability to read electrical schematics

  Experience/Qualifications: 

  • B.S. or higher in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent industry experience required
  • Experience designing audio DSP algorithms and music FX
  • Experience writing low-level APIs, interrupts, and hardware interface code for potentiometers, A/D/As, etc
  • Experience developing or working within embedded operating systems
  • Experience using a range of system and software development tools
  • Experience developing audio systems or products

  Skills Required: 

  • Ability to program in Assembly, C/C++ for embedded microprocessors
  • Appreciation of audio system performance
  • Must work well in medium group size
  • Ability to work with little supervision
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize assignments
  • Must effectively communicate with a diverse group of individuals
  • Musical background a plus
  • Spice circuit simulator experience a plus
  • MIDI experience a plus
  • Multi-threading and synchronization experience a plus
  • Experience with microprocessors such as ARM7/9s, ARM Cortex M0/M3/M4 a plus
  • Audio/Video and streaming protocols experience a plus
