Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time Electrical Construction Inspector to join us in our Honolulu office. Primary responsibilities will include performing construction and field inspection on water and wastewater engineering projects.  Candidate will work closely with strong technical experts and other leaders around the company.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide construction inspection of water supply, wastewater collection and treatment facilities including municipal water and wastewater treatment plants, pipelines, electrical facilities and equipment, storage facilities, and pump stations for municipal and federal clients in the Hawaii/Pacific Area.
  • Perform construction phase reviews and help facilitate and coordinate permit compliance.
  • Provide construction site reviews which may include daily site inspections to ensure compliance with approved plans, specifications, standards and codes.
  • Perform construction management oversight and administration.
  • Become familiar with the project plans and specifications for enforcement of their requirements.
  • Coordinate in the field with clients/owners, consultants, contractors, designers and regulatory agencies.
  • Measure and record pay quantities.
  • Prepare daily reports documenting weather, equipment, manpower, and construction activities; and daily progress photos.
  • Review and track contractor's schedule.
  • Document work not performed in accordance with the plans/specifications and advise the Contractor’s Superintendent and note in Daily report.
  • Prepare preliminary punch lists.
  • Conduct labor category interviews.
  • Prepare time and material reports.
  • Assist the Contractor in planning for and scheduling of required inspections.
  • Coordinate 3rd-party special material testing inspections.
  • Review and provide input on potential change order issues.
  • Maintain project records.
  • Manage project photographic records. Ensure quality client services, and clarity of work products and projects while promoting and integrating companywide initiatives and values.
  • Comply with company and, client, health and safety training requirements.

Position Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED along with a minimum of 5 years of prior experience with a background that includes general civil infrastructure construction inspection.
  • Ideal candidate will be familiar with Hawaii DOT and other local standards, regulations, and specifications; be proficient in the inspection of pipe installation, asphalt and concrete installation.
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent, inspection certifications preferred - ICC, APWA, NICCET, CRSI, ACI, AWS.
  • Strong organizational skills required.
  • Strong verbal and written (technical writing) communication skills required.
  • Candidate should be highly responsive, capable of working in a diverse team environment and handling multiple tasks with competing priorities.
  • Candidate will have a positive, can-do attitude; will be flexible and self-motivated, creative and quality-oriented and will possess an attention to detail.
  • Candidate should work well with others and have the desire to advance his/her career in the field of construction inspection and management.
  • Periodic travel for multiple days is anticipated.
  • Candidate must be able to lift up to 50 lbs independently.
  • Candidate must be able to work outdoors for extended periods of time (this may include working in hot or cold climates).
  • Candidate must have a valid driver’s license and good driving record.
  • Candidate must complete company required health and safety training and abide by company and, client, health and safety standards prior to going out in the field.
