Description

Currently our Houston office has an opportunity for a NEPA and Environmental Resources Specialist to work closely with our Environmental Services (ES) and Water Resources group.  This is an exciting opportunity to work in a growth-oriented professional consulting office.  We are actively seeking a professional with strong skills in environmental resource consulting and project management, particularly environmental planning and the preparation of NEPA documents according to federal guidelines.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as project manager, task manager, or senior technical oversight for the preparation of EISs and other NEPA-related compliance documents and technical reports/deliverables
  • Provide expertise in natural resource disciplines relevant in the Texas and the Rocky Mountain and Pacific Northwest regions
  • Lead and assist with business development opportunities, proposal preparation, presentations, and other business development activities and help build and manage the NEPA business
  • Work closely with local, regional, and national staff throughout the company
  • Manage diverse NEPA projects, including mining, water resources, alternative energy, transmission, and transportation-related projects
  • Mentor staff in area of expertise
  • Execute and deliver high quality work products

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree (Masters is preferred) in environmental planning, environmental science, geology, biology or a related field
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in NEPA compliance and permitting; working with regulatory agencies and the public; resource protection and management
  • Previous NEPA business development experience Knowledge of pertinent environmental regulations (national and local/regional pertaining to the Texas and Rocky Mountain/Pacific NW regions)
  • Knowledge of pertinent regulations including NEPA (primary area) and SEPA and CEQA (secondary area)
  • Related professional licensing a plus
  • Understanding of modern and large-scale mining operations a plus
  • Must have demonstrated successful experience managing large EIS projects
  • Excellent organizational, oral, written and analytical skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Ability to travel as needed for projects and pursuits
