About the Position

The Clinical Educator is responsible for utilizing professional skills and clinical experience to train patients and healthcare professionals on a diabetes specific product(s). The Clinical Educator will work autonomously to independently manage a specific territory assigned to them. This role will engage with patients and healthcare professionals by building ongoing relationships, helping patients progress in their healthcare journey and facilitating behavior change utilizing motivational/behavioral change theories as a guide to patient empowerment.  The Clinical Educator will report to the District Business Manager, Clinical Education.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for training on pre-approved curriculum within multiple formats including live, virtual, and telephonic to a variety of audiences including, but not limited to patients, office staff, caregivers, and pharmacists
  • Work independently to manage territory metrics aligning to weekly/monthly target performance objectives
  • Build relationships with healthcare providers and office staff
  • Work and communicate cohesively with territory sales force members to meet area needs and identify collaborative opportunities
  • Act as a community liaison on product information.  Attend local community events, as necessary
  • Advise on industry insights and innovative approaches to training curriculum
  • Ensure all activities are conducted in a manner that is compliant with all VMS BioMarketing client, and industry mandated rules and regulations
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Skills & Qualifications
  • CDE required; licensed healthcare professional (e.g. RN, RD, Pharmacist, etc.)
  • Travel required (up to 75%), overnight travel may be required
  • Associate’s degree required, Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Minimum 5 years diabetes education experience
  • Experience working for or contracting with pharmaceutical or device company preferred
  • Desire to self-manage specific territory assignment
  • Demonstrated presentation and training experiences to multiple audiences
  • Proven adaptability to changing business demands and product relevance in a fast paced environment
  • Competent and comfortable utilizing technology, including tablets, projectors, etc.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office products
  • Eligible to participate in federal healthcare programs or in federal procurement or non-procurement programs

Physical Requirements

  • Approximately 75% travel (including potential overnight travel)
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license and obey all applicable traffic laws
  • Must be able to lift and move 20 lbs.
