SUMMARY

 

 

Under limited supervision, performs qualification (Quality assurance) of products during the product development and post development phases. This includes developing test plans, test procedures (included automated test scripts), setup of equipment, the execution of tests and the logging and tracking of the test results and design defects. Provides system level 3 support, system integration, third party testing, system level tests of verification and field testing. Conducts review through the various developmenht phases to monitor the process for deviations from the design and customer requirements documents.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develops and executes system integration and verification test plans as well as provides R&D support and system level 3 support and troubleshooting for the Company’s mission critical P25 VoIP system infrastructure and product releases.
  • Provides on call customer support for critical customer escalated issues.
  • Uses defined and approved test tools and scripts necessary to accomplish integration and test activities.
  • Develops test plans and procedures.
  • Conducts reviews and audits addressing quality aspects at various points in the testing cycle.
  • Conducts verification tests including features, reliability and performance testing.
  • Documents and maintains test results.
  • Ensures test plans and procedures conform to department policies and processes.
  • Develops test automation and other productivity improvements.
  • Assesses and makes recommendations related to test tools appropriate for conducting integration and test activities.
  • Ensures that products meet expected industry standards and regulations.
  • Acts as an integral part of customer issue escalation process.

 

 

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field, or equivalent combination of education and related work experience.
  • 5+ years experience installing, integrating, testing and verification of software and hardware products.
  • 5+ years experience in applying principles of quality assurance to products being developed.
  • 3+ years experience in technical support
  • Knowledge and skills in software applications development and development processes, project management, data modeling, test process and methodology.
  • Deep knowledge of system development life cycle models, software QA theory and methodology, testing strategies, tactics and tools.
  • Working knowledge of C, C++, Perl, HTML, PHP, XML.
  • Experience in Unix, Windows XP and Windows Vista development environments
  • Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, LAN, WAN, VPN.
  • Extensive experience with VoIP and IP protocols (VoIP, RTP, SIP, DNS, DHCP, HTTP, LDAP, etc)
  • Very good communications skills, both verbal and written
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Proven ability to work closely with customer support team to troubleshoot root cause, resolve and/or provide work around enabling fast resolution of the customer issues.
  • Very good interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently as well as with others.
  • Ability to identify and resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Ability to travel occasionally, at times for extended periods and on short notice.

 

Desired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

 

  • Practical experience with configuring and maintaining Cisco routers and switches.
  • Cisco Certification (CCNA)
  • Exposure to conventional an/or trunking LMR/PMR systems.
  • Test automation and scripting languages.
