About the Location: The Joffre Manufacturing petrochemical complex is located approximately 20 minutes east of Red Deer, Alberta. Red Deer is situated midway between Alberta’s two largest cities – Calgary and Edmonton – and has the amenities of a big city with a smaller population.
Each year our three ethylene facilities produce more than six billion pounds of ethylene, and our two polyethylene facilities produce more than two billion pounds of polyethylene.


Responsibilities: As a member of one of our Maintenance Departments, within a manufacturing facility at the Joffre site, you will be responsible for providing day-to-day maintenance support in all areas of the plant which will include:
• Problem solving and troubleshooting instrumentation issues along with identifying reliability and optimization opportunities.
• Completing assigned tasks in a timely, safe and accurate manner, overcoming barriers and engaging others when required.
• Supporting and executing capital and expense projects.
• Interfacing with external groups including vendors, purchasing, and project teams.
• Establishing new and maintaining existing preventative maintenance programs.


Qualifications: We are currently recruiting for an Instrument Technicians who possesses:
• An Alberta and/or Interprovincial Journeyman Certification in Instrumentation with 2+ years of post-journeyman experience.
• Maintenance experience in a petrochemical or heavy industry plant environment will be considered an asset.
•Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and technical knowledge, and the ability to work effectively with Maintenance, Operations and Engineering Teams.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.
• A self-started who has the ability to manage workload with minimal supervision
• Demonstrated prioritization skills.
• Demonstrated commitment to Responsible Care practices and procedures.
• Working knowledge of computers, with preference given to the Microsoft suite of products and SAP.
• Establishing new and maintaining existing preventative maintenance programs.
• Willingness to work overtime and accept callouts when required.
• Experience with the following would be considered assets: Allen Bradley PLCs, Triconex, DCS, Siemens Maxum Analyzers, Valve Link, and Bently Nevada.
