Position Summary

The Informatica Software Engineer will be responsible for creating, unit testing, documenting and maintaining Informatica mapping and workflows (ETL’s).  They will take direction from Managers and Data Architects, and will be required to follow coding process standards.

Digital River is in the process of building a new Data Warehouse environment that will support our worldwide external client base as well as our internal customers.  We have selected and purchased the following DW technologies:  Oracle 10g, Oracle BIEE (for reporting), Essbase (for forecast cubes) and Informatica (for ETL).  SAP has been selected as our ERP for all costing and accounting functions and our operational commerce engines are custom developed.  The focus of the data warehouse will be the reporting of sales, traffic stats, marketing initiatives, inventory, profit & forecast, accounting & tax and HR.   

 

What we would like to see most of all is a self-starting, resourceful leader with the right attitude and the aptitude, but what ideally would intrigue us is the following:      

  • Design, code and test ETL’s based on program specifications, business requirements, department standards and project timelines. 
  • Mentor co-workers by providing technical guidance and advice on Warehousing techniques as required.
  • Collaborate with the appropriate individuals regarding Data Warehouse development/enhancement projects.   
  • Regularly evaluate processes and make recommendations to improve efficiency.
  • Attend and participate in meetings that pertain to assigned responsibilities.
  • Provide support outside normal business hours as required.
  • Assist in Informatica Administrative duties.

Occasional Responsibilities:

  • Provide support outside normal business hours as required.
  • Assist Database team in evaluation of disk usage and performance of data warehouse.
  • Assist in Informatica Administrative duties.
  • Provide Informatica architectural guidance
  • Provide feedback on co-worker performance on projects led.

Education Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Equivalent

Experience Required  

  • Minimum 4 years of Data Warehousing experience including small project management, hands-on ETL development and SQL development experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years of hands on Informatica experience is highly preferred.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience with relational databases required.  

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong SQL coding skills (Oracle, DB2, MySQL, MS SQL Server).  Oracle 10g is preferred.
  • Experience with Oracle BI EE, Siebel Analytics, Essbase, Actuate, Business Objects, Cognos, or other similar reporting tool(s).   Oracle BI EE or Siebel Analytics preferred.
  • Experience with ETL tools such as Informatica, DataStage or Oracle Warehouse Builder. 
  • Strong knowledge of Data Warehousing solutions, including reporting tools, dashboard tools, quey tools, ETL tools, and relational database design and implementation strategies.
