Travelzoo’s Deal Experts, in 25 offices around the world, follow a one-of-a-kind process to source, verify and alert subscribers to the very best travel and entertainment offers.
We are now searching for a part-time (3 days a week) Freelance Copy Editor. The position will report into the Vice President of Production, Europe.
Responsibilities will include:
Copy editing Local Deals and website
Fact checking to ensure copy is 100% accurate
Rewriting copy and headlines where relevant to ensure maximum audience engagement
Ensuring copy conforms to house style
Cutting or expanding copy where necessary to ensure page balance
‘Sensitive’ editing to ensure that the producer’s original style and voice are maintained
Checking captions for accuracy and relevancy
Liaising with Producers and Publisher on copy changes in a tactful and timely manner
Final proofing for all email publications
Candidate profile
Degree educated (or equivalent)
Several years experience in digital editing or proofreading
A meticulous approach to work and an eye for detail
Ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines
Excellent spelling and grammar
Superb headline and copywriting skills
Strong team player
Capacity to communicate efficiently with multi-lingual staff based in Europe
Familiarity with travel & leisure content would be beneficial though not required
