EU HSE Intern – Netherlands – 6 Months – September 2014
Tesla’s goal is to accelerate the world’s transition to electric mobility with a full range of increasingly affordable electric cars. California-based Tesla designs and manufactures EVs, as well as EV powertrain components for partners such as Toyota and Daimler. Model S is the world’s first premium sedan to be engineered from the ground up as an electric vehicle. Model S was named Motor Trend’s prestigious 2013 Car of the Year, achieved the best safety score of any car ever tested by the NHTSA, and Consumer Reports are calling it the best car it has ever tested.
Our rapid expansion across Europe means our demand for high calibre talent is ever increasing. As such, we now have a need to take on a small number of interns across our European Business. Our internship is like no other in that you will take on real responsibility from day one and there really are no limits to what you can achieve. We foster an environment in which anyone can make changes, take on projects and truly make a difference to business success. But, you need to be the sort of person who can make things happen for yourself, you will not have your hand held within Tesla; so if this is you then you are the person for us. We need self-starting interns who can make their own way within some challenging and ever changing business environments.
The Health and Safety Intern is responsible for technical work in a wide range of Health and Safety disciplines focused on the European Tesla locations. The Health and Safety Intern will support the Health and Safety Manager with implementing and maintaining programs. The Health and Safety Intern will help create and streamline the systems and procedures necessary to ensure the overall health and safety of Tesla Employees. The overall charter is achieving compliance within the company’s and regulatory agencies’ standards in Europe. The ideal candidate works well on both self-initiated projects and those driven by concerns and issues reported by co-workers.
Keeping up to date and ensure compliance with Health and Safety focused on the EU Tesla locations.
Implement and maintain Health and Safety policies, plans and procedures.
Apply technical expertise to the proper maintenance of the work environment in accordance with regulations.
Oversee matters related to environmental permitting (air, water, waste), safety, compliance monitoring, reporting and auditing.
Interfacing with various regulatory agencies while hosting, documenting, responding to and tracking audits and inspections.
Investigating/recording incidents, accidents, complaints and cases of ill health of employees.
Drive continuous improvement programs and determining ways of reducing risks.
Conduct training on general safety, fire hazards and occupational injury prevention and oversee Health and Safety exercises.
Provide technical Expertise on operations design and safety procedures.
Bachelor in Engineering or equivalent. In lieu of a degree, relevant work experience.
Health and Safety qualifications preferred.
Ability to take on an internship from September 2014 for at least 6 months.
Fluency in Dutch and English required, other languages an advantage.
Experience in a manufacturing/ industrial environment.
Experience with MS Office.
Knowledge of regulatory agencies and requirements.
Experience with training and educating company employees in Health and Safety initiatives.
Experience with emergency procedures and crisis management.
Willing to travel.
