ROHM Semiconductor USA has an immediate opening for a bilingual (Japanese) developing QA Electrical Engineer. Under general supervision of the QA Manager and senior QA engineer, performs routine tasks of a moderate scope using established procedures and methods, conducts failure analysis for claims received from customers to insure ROHM's products conform to quality standards; assures that product claims, support, and new designs are accomplished. This is a junior level QA engineering position.


To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.

  • Conducts failure analysis at the request of the QA Manager and interfaces with the factory (Japan) to resolve reported problems
  • Responds to customer inquiries regarding technical and quality issues
  • Maintains quantities of items necessary to operate the QA lab
  • Supports sales departments with knowledge in resolving QA related issues
  • Develops internal operating procedures to eliminate errors which affect productivity and add cost in ROHMs operations
  • Translates or interprets reports from Japan for customer distribution and comprehension
  • Provides support for ROHMs quality program development and implementation for improvement in internal processes
  • Enhance professional growth and stay up-to-date on cutting-edge technologies through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings and workshops



  • BA/BS degree in Electrical Engineering ( or related Digital, Analog, Mix-signal)  and/or Chemistry or equivalent combination of education/training and work experience
  • Minimum of 1-3 year's work knowledge and experience as a QA Engineer or eletrical engineering technician with increasing responsibility; preferrably 3-5 year's of demonstrated QA work experience
  • Minimum of 2+ years of some degree of industry technical knowledge in semiconductor and/or consumer electronics

Background and Knowledge of:

  • Fluent English skills (written,oral and listening)
  • Japanese Language - Native level is required (speak, write and translation)
  • Possess proficient hand-eye dexterity coordination in using lab tools and equipment
  • Proven record/demonstrated work experience in using electronics testing equipment, use of chemicals in the testing of products, interpret and explain analysis of test parts/company or related policies & procedures
  • Knowledge of: ROHMs product lines, Quality Control, OSHA Regulations, Chemical testing and use, applicable computer software applications, ability to adapt to custom computerized systems, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, spreadsheets, and databases), common office equipment and mobile devices
  • Technical equipment knowledge, skills and use in: Solder Iron, Solder bath, ICs, heat gun, Multi-tester, Semiconductor tester, oven, x-ray machine, varied related microscopes, optical measuring system, digital camera, curve tracer, ESD simulator, LCR meter, mold decasulation system, print head resistance tester, peel back force tester, IC backside polisher, power supply,  grinder/polisher, photo emission camera, and gold sputterer and etc.
  • Prior work experience for a Japanese company, or global business operation is preferred/highly desirable


  • Communicate effectively in both oral and written forms with employees, customers and management; understand and follow verbal and written communication
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to work with minimal/no supervison
  • Meet requirements to work extended days for meetings with HQ Japan as needed
  • Handle standard lab/bench environment and other physical requirements- walking, long-periods of sitting, standing and lifting up to 35-50 lbs. may be required
  • Identify critical issues and recommend solutions to address concerns
  • Prioritize workload and determine priorities
