Position Summary

 

This position supports the external customer needs in the market by reviewing customer specifications, aligning Howden Covent (HCV) products to meet those specifications and then generating proposals.  This position serves as an integral link between sales managers and Key Account Managers, design engineering and the customer to ensure proposals are market sensitive to pricing and performance.

Key Responsibilities, Accountabilities & Deliverables

 

  1. Work closely with Sales Team to lead and develop technically sound, engineered customer proposals [budget and firm] and provide an appropriate solution to the customer while maximizing profitable growth to HCV.
  2. Review and analyze customer requirements and specifications for application of products and recommend a suitable product selection with due regard for internal engineering and manufacturing capabilities.
  3. Estimates cost of recommended equipment selections.
  4. During proposal generation, serves as a liaison between customer needs and other departments concerning all aspects of customer orders such as inspections, deliveries, scheduling, spare parts list, etc. to ensure proposal account for all aspects of internal costs and resource needs. 
  5. Provides technical assistance, information, support and guidance to customers and sales representatives to maximize sales volume and earnings, market penetration of products and effective relationships with customers.  Develops specifications utilizing HCV equipment.
  6. Assist Sales Reps in closing contracts by distinguishing Howden proposals and capabilities.
  7. Maintain the required level of proficiency in application engineering skills, plus the use of Application Engineering tools. 
  8. Partners with all central functions such as Quality, Engineering, Finance, IT, and HR to ensure that enabling strategies and tactics are in place and are consistent with broader business strategies and tactics.
  9. Engages with all businesses and functions to promote and sustain a continuous improvement culture within the organization.
  10. Represents the Company with customers and business partners.
  11. Engage in continuous improvement for processes included in and adjacent to job role. Recognize and resolve customer satisfaction issues (both internal and external).
  12. Continually gather critical site information about Howden installed base, collecting it for the CRM system and using it to prospect for additional opportunities.
  13. Prepare all required documents for Handover meetings in accordance with internal requirements.

Experience, Competencies and Education

 

Essential

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Bilingual, French and English.
  • A minimum of 3 years applications experience including selection and costing, preferably in the fan or related industry.
  • Ability to create and maintain strong relationships with customers, employees and reps.
  • High moral and ethical standards; integrity is continuously apparent.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Products – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.  Comfortable navigating the internet.
  • Strong interpersonal skills – active listener, clear and concise communicator (both oral and written); proven collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work in a highly dynamic environment covering multiple projects / proposals simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

 

 

Desirable

  • Experience in air and gas handling and movement industry.
  • Experience working with ERP, CRM and other technology tools.
