We are seeking seasonal contract boat Captain’s for our Niagara Falls, Canada location. Qualified candidates will operate Transport Canada Inspected Passenger Vessels in the Niagara Gorge between the Rainbow Bridge and Niagara Falls in a manner that insures the Safety and Security of the Crew, Enjoyment of the Passengers, and Respect for the Environment. 

Our Captains have heavy public contact; therefore we are looking for individuals who provide superb guest service. A flexible schedule is a must. Schedule includes evenings, weekends and holidays.


  • Operate vessels in accordance with Hornblower Niagara Cruises (HNC) Safety Management System (SMS), ISO Respect management system, vessel security plan and wheelhouse resources management
  • Conduct watch, quarter and station bill emergency drills in accordance with Transport Canada regulations
  • Supervise 1st Mate, Deckhands, and other Crew members in all areas of marine transportation safety, security, and training
  • Inspect all areas of the vessel for unsafe conditions, performs accident investigations, and makes safety announcements to ensure the safety and comfort of the crew and passengers
  • Maintain vessel operation and maintenance logs, crew reports and all other ship’s business records
  • Accountable for accurate and timely reporting and documentation  as set forth by company standards
  • Ensure safe operation of vessel at all times, including proper use of equipment during daily operations and on board emergencies
  • Leads daily training talks as set forth by the ISO and Marine Operations department.
  • Oversees transferring of pumping sewage and water
  • Ensure vessel is clean and well maintained throughout the course of daily operations


  • Current Master 150 Gross Tons, Domestic
  • Minimum five (5) years of boat handling experience required
  • Post-secondary education at an accredited maritime college or other institution preferred
  • Restricted Radio Operators License
  • Current (within previous two (2) years) Transport Canada approved medical.
  • Current Marine Basic or Advanced First Aid.
  • The ability to successfully complete a criminal background check
  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of shipboard maintenance software and Microsoft office applications a definite asset.
