Group Fitness Instructor
Status: Part-time/Temporary/Seasonal (PTS) position, non-exempt

Salary: Starts at $18.00 to $25.00 per hour

Reporting Relationship:Reports toRecreation Coordinator - Aquatics & Fitness
The Recreation Services Division has the responsibility for managing all recreation facilities and providing a variety of affordable recreation programs and services for all age groups and people for all abilities. The staff in this division are responsible for the management of facilities such as the Community Center, the Senior Center, and the Outdoor Center, as well as all other City park buildings and recreation facilities such as swimming beaches, sledding hill, amphitheatre and facilities on school property that are operated in partnership with the School District such as the Oak Point Pool and tennis courts at CMS.
The fitness instructor instructs group fitness classes at the Eden Prairie Community Center. This position may substitute for group fitness classes in a variety of formats. The primary position responsibilities and areas of impact are:
1) Provides instruction in a variety of fitness activities both floor and water exercise.
2) Ensures members’ needs are met through personal recognition and by providing quality service.
3) Monitors the well-being of all participants throughout exercise program.
4) Assumes a leadership role as a professional in the area of exercise and aerobics.
5) Encourages participants to continue with exercises and make healthy choices.
6) Ensures that a safe and healthy environment exists for exercising.
7) Instructors enforce all fitness facility policies, rules and regulations.
8) Assists in the cleaning and general maintenance of the fitness area.
9) Arrives well prepare, music cued and routine thought out.
While these areas are the primary focus of the position, we believe strongly in teamwork and employees will be called upon to perform a variety of duties as a part of their role with the City.
Education: Group exercise certification (ACE, NETA, AEA or equivalent) and First Aid, CPR, and AED certification required.
Work Experience: Experience teaching group fitness class preferred; some training is available.
