Description

 

Will work under the direction of the General Manager, the Transportation Director  will be responsible for the management of preliminary and detailed design studies associated with road and transportation infrastructure. The successful candidate should have strong capabilities in the areas of functional and detailed transportation infrastructure.

 

 

Roles & responsibilities :

  • Engineering project management at a municipal and provincial level, including application of transportation engineering principles, completion of Environmental Assessment studies;
  • Supervision of design of specific projects, including coordination of drafting personnel, guidance of technical staff, client liaison, technical reviews, preparation of project specifications, and resolving various engineering problems;
  • Functional and detailed level design for municipal and provincial road reconstruction/construction projects;
  • Budget management, ensuring adequate staff on-hand to properly execute projects;
  • Meet client requirements as per contractual agreements;
  • Complete design and peer reviews with a strong attention to detail and accuracy and project delivery requirements;
  • Management of project tasks, schedules, budgets, cost control processes and work procedures;
  • Coordinate business development activities including identifying and pursuing potential marketing opportunities;
  • Maintain existing business relationships and build new ones;
  • Project lead on new engineering projects.

 

Professionnal requirements :

  • Minimum 15 years of relevant experience, with at least 10 years project management expertise in road design and  Environmental Assessment (EA);
  • A university degree or equivalent qualifications in Civil Engineering;
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in Ontario (P.Eng.) and Member of Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO);
  • Knowledge of federal government procurement process and proposal preparation;
  • Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team environment;
  • Must have or able to obtain secret clearance;
  • Valid Driver’s license and access to a vehicle;
  • Team leading personality with strong people skills who enjoys engineering challenges;
  • Initiative and an ability to work independently while leading a team of design professionals;
  • Able to monitor costs, including control of project schedules;
  • Experience and aptitude for business development and marketing;
  • Excellent customer service interaction and support services;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skill in English.  French would be  an asset;
  • Experience in traffic and transportation impacts studies, an asset;
  • Knowledge of local market, an asset.
