POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

As a key component of the Blackboard Collaborate Software Development team, the QA group has responsibility for testing and validating all products and web site upgrades. Blackboard Collaborate is a small fast paced software company. Much of what we do is done with cross functional teams in an agile development environment. The QA group also works with the Support groups to resolve end client issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Building, mentoring and managing a world class QA team with a passion for excellence
  • Work with the Sr. Manager and Director to establish quality goals, testing strategies, test plans, metrics, and release criteria for the QA group
  • Establish processes to ensure quality during the complete development cycle
  • Work cross functionally with multiple teams and stakeholders to ensure a quality product that focuses on end user experience and customer satisfaction
  • Regularly interact with senior management to discuss current project and QA department issues and trends; and to plan and influence future QA department needs and policies.
  • Engage with any off shore delivery teams to ensure test coverage on releases.
  • Planning and estimating QA time and resources needed for both large and small product releases
  • Provide official sign off approval for releases ready to be deployed to production

REQUIREMENTS

  • Educational background in software development (BSc. preferred) or related experience
  • Experience leading teams and projects
  • Proficient in various OS platforms: Windows, Mac, Solaris, Linux
  • Proficient in various browsers: IE, FireFox, Chrome, Safari etc.
  • Solid understanding of database technologies: SQL, Oracle, MySQL
  • Strong interpersonal and reporting skills
  • Experience with Selenium, Eggplant or similar automation testing tools
  • Experience with usability and UI testing
