Contract Benefits Specialist


Position Summary

To provide temporary support (3-6 months) to Human Resources Department during an employee absence in key areas including benefits administration, employee relations and interpretation of company policies and programs.



  • Administer all benefit plans (Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, 401k, COBRA, Flex, etc.)
  • Interact with employees and management regarding various HR benefit inquiries
  • Conduct new hire benefit orientations
  • Prepare personnel and benefit files for new hires
  • Enter all new enrollment and status changes into Medical, Dental, COBRA, 401k, Life and HRB systems
  • Process all terminations and other employee changes into various carrier websites and HRB system
  • Maintain current knowledge of FMLA administration, guidelines and laws.
  • Thorough understanding of requirements of COBRA, HIPPA, ERISA, and IRS rules on pertinent benefit programs
  • Process 401k loans
  • Manage Intranet site for announcements or changes
  • Develop, run and analyze various data and other ad-hoc reports for Director of Human Resources
  • Assist Director of HR and other department members with a variety of project-related activities in all key functional areas
  • Oversee the completion of projects including; planning, assigning, monitoring, reviewing progress and evaluating results



Professional Requirements

  • 3-5 years of professional experience in developing and managing employee health and benefits insurance programs
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with impeccable attention to detail
  • Is a good listener and shows an interest in what others have to say
  • Ability to maintain confidential information and work in a team environment with a strong customer service focus required
  • Possesses good organizational/time management skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks
  • High comfort level with MS Office Suite
  • Familiar with ADP – HRB preferred
  • Demonstrates a high degree of commitment to the organization.  Is committed to professionalism in the workplace as demonstrated through appearance, timeliness, and communication skills

Educational Requirements

BA or BS Degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration or related field preferred but not required.


Organizational Relationships

Reports to Director of Human Resource and interacts with Department Leaders and Executive team on a regular basis
