PEAK6 is seeking a Sr. Linux Systems Administrator / Engineer to join a growing team responsible for the deployment and administration of physical and virtual Linux servers and centralized storage.

Responsibilities:
•    Plan, design, and manage the deployment of highly available IT infrastructure and associated support services, including Linux servers, storage, and infrastructure services (i.e. authentication, authorization, DNS, NTP, etc.)
•    Administer VMware environment
•    Manage the Storage Area Network including allocating storage, LUN mapping, monitoring, and performance analysis
•    Work with internal customers to understand functional requirements and make systems changes and hardware recommendations accordingly
•    Identify, troubleshoot and resolve system performance issues
•    Build automation into daily processes, including server builds, patching, and configuration analysis
•    Support mission-critical trading applications in a fast-paced environment
•    Continue development of team documentation, policies, procedures, and standards

Requirements:
•    B.S. or equivalent 
•    At least 5 years hands on experience with enterprise Linux environments
•    Excellent communication skills
•    Ability to succeed under pressure and in fast paced environment
•    Experience with clustering, replication, and other high-availability and disaster recovery technologies
•    Experience with multiple UNIX and Linux platforms including Red Hat (CentOS) and Ubuntu
•    Experience with configuration management platforms such as BCFG2, Puppet, and/or Chef
•    Experience with VMware vSphere 5.x
•    Experience with HP and Dell server hardware
•    Experience with EMC storage arrays
•    Experience using scripting languages for task automation (Python, Perl, Shell, etc.)
•    Experience in the financial services industry a plus
