Description

Purpose of the Job:

Responsible for representing the Human Resources Operations team in a generalist capacity and for maintaining and improving overall efficiencies and effectiveness of internal processes and services. Works with the Senior Manager and the HR Operations team to consistently deliver exceptional service within stated agreements to all employees and external contacts.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Internal Operations

  • Perform file management of all HR records maintaining policy and legislative requirements
  • Process bonding, criminal checks and reference checks for all new hires in support of the recruiting function and within prescribed timelines
  • Positively contributes to the new employee orientation process by taking ownership of preparing and distributing “Welcome Packages” to new employees
  • Maintains a continual focus on process optimization with an accountability to discover and suggest enhancements to all processes managed

 

HRIS Application

  • Leads the maintenance of People Services’ Data Warehouse by processing all HRIS updates, including new hires, terminations and other employee changes, ensuring timely and accurate information
  • Develops and implements processes and procedures for the seamless and accurate execution of HRIS management reporting and employee database maintenance

 

HRIS Reporting

  • Evaluates requests and maximizes tools and technologies to meet the reporting needs of the consulting team, management, and other departments within the organization
  • Creates and distributes standardized reports as required on a regular basis making suggestions for report enhancements and implementing as directed

 

Payroll Support

  • Acts as a SME for the TLM tool, guiding both employees and management in the correct usage
  • Coordinates the data flow between HRIS, Payroll and TLM to ensure accurate and timely payroll calculations
  • Supports Team Lead, Payroll & HRIS in all payroll and HRIS matters including year end functions and projects
  • Monitors Statement Self Service program and distribution of pay statements as required

 

Audits

  • Participates in all audit under takings of the HR Operations team as directed by the Team Lead, Payroll & HRIS

 

HR Relations

  • Maintains a high level of communication with all employees, informing and interpreting HR and policy related issues and adding value by providing a high level of service to staff
  • Maintains strict confidentiality and discretion in all areas of work concerning staff and HR issues
  • Acts as a reliable resource and member of a unified team to continually enhance the department’s ability to develop careers, support employee engagement and build the lives of our internal member

 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Knowledge of all HR policies & procedures, and all relevant legislation.
  • Ability to communicate complex issues to a varied audience in a comprehensive manner, with a consistent focus on service.
  • Commitment to the ongoing enhancement of skills and knowledge supported by a learning environment.
  • Ability to adapt to changing business needs and provide innovative reporting solutions.
  • Strong, proven, superior computer skills, including Microsoft  Excel at an advanced level with the ability to present data for analysis and interpretation for a variety of purposes and audiences.  Microsoft  Word at an advanced level.
  • Proven time management ability, meticulous work habits and record keeping, for duties characterized by frequent change and non-negotiable deadlines.
  • Courteous professional, with the ability to work as an independent contributor and a positive team member.
  • Minimum 2 years HR Professional experience preferred in a similar role or service experience within Meridian.
  • Post secondary education in Human Resources or Business Administration, or equivalent work experience.
  • Detailed oriented individual with proven practices for self –auditing in a high volume environment.
