Design Engineer

Description

Responsible for the overall support to the Division functions of design, construction, permitting, and land acquisition.  Works with Design Manager, Construction Manager, Permit Coordinator, and Project and Design Engineers to assist in managing various design contracts as they relate to project design.  Assist in managing other professional service contracts for the execution of the County’s annual Highway Improvement Program.  Assist the Division in complying with Local/State/Federal guidelines relating to roadway geometry, pavement design, maintenance of traffic, erosion control, pavement marking, signage, and basic drainage design elements.  Works with contractors, engineers, consultants, townships, municipalities, state and federal agencies, and other professional staff. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Position requires a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field with 2 to 5 years experience in civil engineering for highway construction projects.  An Illinois Professional Engineer license is desirable or the ability to obtain in 2 years.  Candidate should possess excellent communication and organizational skills.
