Revenue Control Clerk (Multiple Positions)

Description

This position will work during the Zoo's peak season.

 

BASIC FUNCTION:

This position encompasses the overall counting and balancing of cash and the reporting of the daily revenue report for the Friends of the Zoo organization.  All of the departments throughout the zoo, with the exception of FOTZ memberships are run through cash control; these include concessions, rides, admissions, group sales, gift shops, donations, special fundraisers and education.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ability to count and handle large sums of coin and cash and report them accordingly to their balance sheet.
  • Ability to enter balance sheets into Microsoft Excel spreadsheet.
  • Provide excellent employee service at all times and be able to solve problems with employees of different departments.
  • Ability to prepare moneybags (tills) for employees and balance a money vault accurately.
  • Ability to transfer small amounts of cash throughout the zoo to the corresponding departments.
  • Assist in opening and closing duties as needed i.e. setting alarms and the opening and closing of safes.
  • Support and comply with the mission statement.
  • Must instantly report any incidents/accidents, broken equipment or unsafe conditions, maintenance and building needs, and customer difficulties to manager and/or appropriate staff to correct the situation.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

 

PHYSICAL EFFORT:

Occasional lifting of no more than 25lbs.

Excessive cash handling


 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

70% time is spent in a climate-controlled building. 30% is spent outside throughout the Zoo.  Long periods of time sitting and counting cash.


 

RELATIONSHIPS:

Internal: Daily with employees

External: Very little interaction with guests


 

SKILLS NEEDED:

  • Prefer a minimum of one-year accurate cash handling experience.
  • Basic computer experience with Microsoft Excel preferred.
  • Must have effective customer service skills and be able to relate to all types of people.
  • High attention to detail, excellent verbal & written communication skills.
  • Ability to handle and count money in an accurate, responsible and timely manner.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.       
  • Must have 10 key experience.
  • Must have valid driver’s license.


 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Prefer a minimum of 18 years of age.

Prefer a high school degree/GED and some college with an emphasis in finance or accounting.

 

 

DECISION MAKING:

Must be able to make decisions in the absence of a supervisor, but also follow procedures and protocol relevant to cash control.

N/A


 

EMOTIONAL:

Medium to High:  Hourly deadlines and very accurate reporting can lead to higher level of stress during the busy season.
