This position is for the Zoo's Peak Season

BASIC FUNCTION: 

Seeking motivated, outgoing, energetic individuals to be part of our Membership Sales Team who can show a real passion for Kansas City and our wonderful Zoo.  The right candidates will meet and exceed membership sales goals and inspire greater support for our continuing improvements. Membership Sales Representatives utilize Zoo marketing collateral and sales tools daily. These positions span approximately 4 months throughout the spring and will give you the opportunity to utilize the persuasive skills you've gained in the classroom in a unique and fun outdoor environment. This candidate is responsible to initiate and complete membership sales transactions with Zoo visitors and Kansas City residents, in person and by telephone, in a friendly and positive manner, answer all inquiries for Zoo information, and provide superior customer service.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsibilities include initiating and completing membership sales transactions.
  • This includes greeting all guests, suggestive selling, completing paperwork, cash and credit card handling, and thanking the guest.
  • Must be able to interact with a variety of people utilizing sales techniques to sell memberships.
  • Maintain excellent customer service and abide by employee policies and procedures.
  • Maintain updated and thorough knowledge of all aspects of the Zoo, FOTZ and other guest services in order to answer guest questions and promote memberships.
  • Assist with representing the Zoo on-site and off site in order to promote memberships to the Zoo.
  • Work cooperatively with other guest services team members.
  • Abide by all FOTZ policies, procedures and operational directives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Membership Manager and other Marketing staff.
     

PHYSICAL EFFORT:

Active.    Sufficient mobility, vision and hearing are needed to ensure a safe work environment.  Job requires high levels of standing, walking, sitting and occasional lifting.


 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Varies.   Must be able to work in an indoor or outdoor environment.


 

RELATIONSHIPS:

Internal: Daily with management and employees

External: Daily with guests, employees and the general public.


 

SKILLS NEEDED:

Excellent verbal communication skills.

Ability to deal professionally and effectively with all types of people.

Must be able to count change and handle money.

Must have valid driver’s license.


 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Must be enrolled in college working toward a degree, related sales experience is preferred.

 

SUPERVISION:

Supervision required.


 

EMOTIONAL:

Medium. Occasional periods of stress.
