POSITION SUMMARY

As a member of Ingenuity Labs, you will join a dynamic cross-functional team composed of biologists, data analysts, and software engineers working on truly cutting-edge technology for clinical interpretation of variants from next-generation sequencing assays. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with training in medical genetics to contribute to the advancement of individualized medicine.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Functions:

  • Interact with customers, key opinion leaders and early access partners who are leveraging Ingenuity content and applications to streamline interpretation of molecular diagnostic tests.
  • Provide clinical and scientific leadership as a key member of a product development team for Ingenuity’s advanced clinical sequence-based test interpretation offering.
  • Lead projects working with customers and Ingenuity team members to optimize, benchmark and enrich Ingenuity’s content assets to fundamentally evolve sequence-based test interpretation.
  • Ensure that Ingenuity clinical content meets needs of key opinion leaders, customers and partners.
  • Work with prospects to showcase clinical interpretation of sequence-based tests leveraging Ingenuity’s Knowledge Base of expert-curated biomedical literature.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead product content assessments and variant interpretation pilot programs with customers and early access partners.
  • Lead interactions with customers on test interpretation programs, panel/test launch projects, and early access programs. Understand, prioritize and relate customer clinical content requirements and application needs to product development team.
  • Be an “internal customer”: Perform and drive clinical test and variant assessments leveraging Ingenuity technology toward development and evolution of new product capabilities, construction of case studies, and applying advanced product features to cases of interest to key opinion leaders in the field.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Minimum:

  • Passion for the application of new tools and clinical evidence to evolve the ability of the field to interpret complex sequence-based tests and advance patient care.
  • Clinical evaluation and interpretation of sequence-based clinical diagnostic tests.
  • An energetic individual with excellent verbal and written customer communication skills.
  • Strong scientific and clinical analytical thinking, including critical review of human genetic disease literature.

Preferred:

  • Recognized leader in the human genetics or oncology community.
  • Familiarity with content sources used for interpretation of human sequence variants.
  • Understanding of Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) data analysis.
  • Interest in teaching and advancing clinical practice.

EXPERIENCE

Minimum:

  • Experience using public databases and literature to interpret genetic variants.
  • Research or clinical experience with hereditary disease or oncology.

Preferred:

  • 2+ years experience with preparation of reports in a clinical diagnostics setting for oncology or hereditary diseases.
  • 2+ years experience providing genetic counseling.
  • 2+ years clinical experience in cancer genetics or adult genetics.
  • Experience developing practice guidelines or educational resources for medical geneticists.

EDUCATION

Minimum:

  • MD, DO, or PhD in human genetics or related field.

Preferred:

  • Board eligible or certified by American Board of Medical Genetics (ABMG)
  • Certification by the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC)
  • California Clinical Genetic Molecular Scientist License
  • Fellow of the American College of Medical Genetics (FACMG)

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

  • Some travel will be required to represent the company at industry events and interact with customers and key opinion leaders in the field.
