Senior Software Designer - Ottawa

Role Overview

You will contribute to our success by:

  • Designing and implementing distributed Java applications in a carrier grade Unix/Linux environment with a focus on reliability and fault tolerance.
  • Providing high-level system designs, detailed design specifications, implementation and estimates.
  • Sharing your knowledge in the following technology areas: OO analysis and design, distributed programming, multi-threaded system design, high availability system design, protocols, design patterns, database access, etc.
  • Working in a highly collaborative team environment not only with immediate designers, but also with Product Verification Specialists, delivery and deployment teams and other departments of the organization.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve internal and field issues found in the product.

 

Requirements

  • 5+ years experience in Java design and development
  • 2-3+ years experience in C++ design and development
  • Familiarity with the configuration and deployment in virtual computing environments such as VMware and BMC Orchestrator
  • 5+ years of experience in network programming
  • 5+ years of experience in Object Oriented Analysis and Design
  • 5+ years of experience with concurrency, multithreading
  • Experience in developing large-scale, high performance, fault-tolerance, and high throughput distributed systems.

 

Preferences

  • Experience in HSS and/or PCRF deployments from a development or administrative role
  • Experience in LTE and/or IMS
  • Experience in application performance tuning and profiling in Java and/or C/C++ on Linux
  • Knowledge of DIAMETER protocol
  • Knowledge of RDBMS
  • Knowledge of SQL
  • Knowledge of TimesTen
  • Knowledge of LDAP
  • Knowledge of RADIUS protocol
  • BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or related technical discipline (or equivalent)
