Automotive Fuel Cell Cooperation (AFCC) -- a joint venture between Daimler, Ford Motor Company and Ballard Power Systems -- is developing next-generation technology for zero-emission automobiles. Today, AFCC fuel cell technology powers more than 150 zero-emission vehicles and counting. We have an immediate opening for a Manager to develop, implement and manage an integrated planning, purchasing and logistics function to support AFCC and Mercedes Benz Fuel Cell.   

This role requires strong leadership, communication and mentoring skills, with experience working with suppliers within complex supply chain value streams. In addition the candidate will demonstrate previous success in purchasing, ERP implementation, inventory management, stores, and production planning and control.  Experience in production, quality, manufacturing engineering and configuration management would be considered valuable.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the on-time delivery of materials, components and prototype builds to internal and partner customers.
  • Hire, train and mentor team members in all aspects of purchasing and logistics.
  • Assess and manage team member’s performance through performance feedback and coaching.
  • Work with internal customers to develop a robust forecasting and internal custom order process for concept builds and prototypes.
  • Lead the continuous improvement of all related business processes; drive continual improvement in the forecasting, planning, purchasing, and inventory management processes.
  • Collaborate with OEM purchasing teams to ensure concept and prototype work will lead to commercially viable supply of critical fuel cell components and technologies.
  • Control experimental inventory including precious metal (platinum based catalyst) management and recovery.
  • Lead cycle counting and year-end physical count.
  • Manage off-site warehouse storage.
  • Ensure compliance with Transportation of Dangerous Goods regulations

Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and demonstrated team-building skills.
  • A minimum of 5 years leadership experience within purchasing or supply chain management.
  • Relevant degree/diploma; University degree in engineering preferred.
  • PMAC, APICS or equivalent management level certification.
  • Competency in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems.
  • Experience in high-tech product development environment an asset.
