Analyst, Sales Operations & Customer Analytics

Accountable to Director, Sales Operations & Customer Analytics

The Analyst, Sales Operations & Customer Analytics will combine a deep understanding of data mining, predictive and business analytics, data science, finance, our business goals and objectives, and our data resources to deliver concise analysis in support of our business objectives.  This role will partner with other elements of the Sales Operations team to enable real-time business management. Primary responsibilities and expectations include: 

  • Utilize a data mining process to take large sets of raw data and transform into in-depth business analysis and prediction of customer behavior 
  • Primary responsibility to execute analysis for the Sales Ops team (emphasis on sales reporting and forecasting, but also including strategic planning, budgeting, incentive plan development, competitive landscape, etc.).  Works with corporate finance to ensure that sales reporting and forecasting are accurate, timely, thoughtful and aligned with Account Management and Competitive Strategy.  
  • Provide a consistent, data-driven, rigorous, standardized and transparent approach to analysis.

Deliverables

  • Provide deep understanding of our data resources/processes to ensure accurate, timely and actionable business performance information
  • Strong functional understanding of finance and analytic tools that enable clear business decision making 
  • Establishes best practices to drive analytic excellence in strategy development, and real-time business management
  • Ensures analytic approaches consistent with, and in support of the innovation framework are employed for planning and execution
  • Ensures analytics approaches are aligned with Innovation Framework.
  • Authentic advocate of MDCO values, beliefs and language, strives to improve the processes that support them
  • Builds internal and external trust based on consistent, transparent, rigorous approach
  • Delivers periodic business/sales reports and dashboards clearly, accurately and in real-time in support of Sales Ops, Financial and Strategic Planning
  • Partners with Sales Ops team to develop, execute and interpret distinctive analysis in support of MDCO business objectives
  • Ensures analysis is consistent with and supportive of the Innovation Framework
  • Creates and manages a strong network across multiple teams within MDCO, especially the GIGs, Novem, Quality/Integrity, and D.E.S.I.G.N. teams
  • Collaborates with members of the Sales Ops team, and utilizes informal networks within MDCO to effectively understand needs of the organization 
  • Partners with other members of the Sales Ops team to shape distinctive analytic approaches that are consistent with the Innovation Framework, as well as the most current financial and accounting theory and best practices
  • Measures outputs vs. goals
  • Partners with Sales Operations & Financial Strategy team to ensure alignment on financial standing and appropriate strategies
  • Ensure all programs, tactics, tools and materials align with MDCO quality standards, are compliant with local laws and aligned with our corporate code of conduct

Requirements

  • Absolute integrity and a strong ethical compass committed to upholding organizational values
  • Excellent demonstrated analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Deep understanding of financial modeling, valuation, and analytic tools
  • Experience working with predictive analysis and data mining
  • Experience working with a data warehouse and integrating multiple data sources
  • Ability to see through the data and produce an analysis that draws to a conclusion
  • Curiosity to dive into data and search for new patterns and insights and problem solve
  • Ability to think creatively and to provide visualization of data to a variety of audiences
  • Strong intrapersonal and presentation skills; ability to communicate and present complex findings and analysis in a non-technical fashion
  • 2-4 years of experience in data mining / data science
  • Experience in life science industry a plus
  • Undergraduate degree from a top-tier institution; MBA a plus
  • Highly quantitative science or business degree (math, statistics, or computer science a plus)
