The Seal-Rite Door Division of Palmer-Donavin is seeking hard-working, motivated individuals with strong interpersonal skills to join our Sales Apprentice Program. You and two other apprentices will learn as a team, enabling you to share your experiences and support each other through the training process. 

After successfully learning Seal-Rite's product line, customer base, and sales techniques, you will be eligible for promotion to Outside Sales. Applicants should be prepared to relocate to any one of our sales territories throughout Illinois, Wisconsin, and Indiana. Our goal is to have you fully trained and ready for promotion within 6 months.

We recently moved Seal-Rite's flagship facility to a newer, larger building in order to keep pace with our recent growth. 2013 was our most successful year ever, and we have confidence that we will surpass that performance in 2014. As a member of the Palmer-Donavin team, we will teach you everything you need to know to have a lucrative, fulfilling career in sales. To succeed you will need to:

  • Learn how to make a purposeful sales call.
  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of the needs of the customers we serve by identifying their strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats.
  • Gain an understanding of the business environment in which Seal-Rite operates including emerging trends, future opportunities, best practices, etc.
  • Understand the role of the outside sales rep in adding value to the customers we serve.
  • Develop a working knowledge of our ERP computer system.
  • Gain a basic understanding of the purchasing function.
  • Develop a broad knowledge of the products we carry including uses, substitutes, advantages, pricing, availability, installation techniques, ancillary products, etc.
  • Gain a solid working knowledge of our processes including account setup, company policies, sales strategies, inventory management, delivery schedules, special services, pricing strategies, etc.


A successful applicant will have:

  • Outstanding interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • General working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • A willingness to relocate to one of the geographic areas we serve
